Our garage door keeps breaking. It appears to close...then pops back up. We've had several guys come out to fix it, and temporarily it seems to work.
Emphasis on 'temporarily' ! :-/
As a result we had an unwanted visitor creep in unaware.
Nothing says, "Happy Father's Day" quite like that!
Apparently Pest Control informed us we have rats too...lovely!
I'm wondering how often we leave our doors open to unwanted evil in our lives.
Intruders if you will.
They can creep in unaware if we're not careful.
It can be like a home invasion robbery of sorts.
It all started back in the Garden of Eden, where the serpent deceived Eve.
Revelation 12:9 says, "...that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray."
What does 'leaving our doors open to evil' really look like?
Well it's probably not as obvious as that large garage door being left open.
It's probably way less noticeable...
it starts off more like a small hole in a back window screen, allowing tiny bugs to get in. But eventually they bring their friends! (like the ant problem we're also dealing with, ugh!)
The Enemy is subtle, that's how he deceives so many! The temptations he hurls at us can start with a single thought, or a glance. It could be a pop up on the computer when you were innocently looking for something else. It could even start with a single lie that eventually spirals out of control to where your whole life feels like a lie.
What are you letting come into your life to rob you?
Maybe you're even robbing yourself of things...like sleep, which allows your defenses to go down in fighting off the snares of the evil one.
Oh yeah, remember those rats out in my garage I was telling you about? We have to set traps with bait to catch the nasty critters. What bait is Satan using to trap you? His goal is to destroy you, and he'll use every weapon in his arsenal to do just that.
John 10:10 bluntly tells us Satan is out to steal, kill and destroy us.
So we've been given a heads up people! #itsnosecret
He'll steal your peace.
He'll kill your desire to serve God.
He'll destroy your testimony.
Whatever it takes.
The good news is...we don't need to fall for his lies.
God's plans for us are far greater...you can take THAT to the spiritual bank!
Jeremiah 29:11 "I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for."
Ephesians 3:20 "God can do anything, you know--far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!"
P.S. Keep your doors shut! ;)
